Ann Gihl, MA, RN, recently has been promoted to Executive Director for Comprehensive Advanced Life Support Program of Minnesota.

Gihl, who was the Education Manager at CALS for more than 2 years, replaced Paul Lakeman, FACHE, in the head position in October. Lakeman led the Minneapolis-based CALS for 3 years and retired Sept. 30.

“I’m very honored and excited to take the helm at CALS as we embrace new challenges and transitions in the organization,” Gihl said.

The most immediate transition will be moving the offices of CALS to 2600 Fernbrook Lane N., Suite 104, Plymouth, MN 55447 by the end of November. New phone numbers will be announced soon.

CALS, has affiliate states in Maine, Minnesota, Montana and Wisconsin as it focuses on training rural health care providers in the United States. Additionally, CALS plans to expand its work globally with the International Organization for Migration to take emergency care training to areas of the world that have fewer health care resources. CALS had its global health kickoff in 2014.

Gihl has a Master’s Degree in Nursing Education from Bethel University, MN. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Registered Nursing from Winona State University, MN.
