Alaska

In 2019, a plane crash on one of the Aleutian Islands in Alaska highlighted the critical need for the Comprehensive Advanced Life Support (CALS) education program in the state. Dr. Murray Buttner, a family medicine physician who witnessed the crash, confidently applied his CALS training to assist a critically injured passenger. His swift actions underscored the effectiveness of CALS training, which equipped him with the knowledge and assurance necessary to perform crucial life-saving measures. Understanding the importance of such programs in Alaska, Dr. Buttner took the initiative to advocate for establishing the CALS program statewide.

Multiple CALS Courses are conducted across various parts of Alaska in the spring and fall.

The registration details vary by location. If you’re interested in attending or hosting a CALS Course in Alaska, email info@calsprogram.org
