New England

New England is the newest region to embrace CALS as a program for improving rural health outcomes and quality. Guy Nuki, MD of Bluewater Emergency Partners, approached CALS in 2017 about conducting a course for the critical access hospitals in Maine.  Feedback from hospital clinical leaders who attended was overwhelmingly positive, indicating that CALS would be a valuable course for all rural and community hospitals. The concept of teamwork in the CALS Program has enhanced and promoted quality care initiatives at multiple critical hospital locations in New England.
 
CALS has been provided across several New England states, including Maine, Massachusetts, and Vermont.
