Fundamentals of Airway Management for the Rural Provider

After completing the CALS Fundamentals of Airway course, you’ll be able to:

  1. Orient to basic airway anatomy and assessment techniques
  2. Effectively use appropriate equipment needed to manage an airway emergency
  3. Explore airway management skills
  4. Investigate techniques and medications involved with rapid sequence intubation
  5. Understand oxygenation needs prior and during airway management procedures
  6. Describe initial basic ventilator management
  7. Gain experience in the team management of an airway emergency using small-group scenario-based simulations

Accreditation: The CALS Fundamentals of Airway Management for the Rural Provider Course has been reviewed by the American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) CME Accreditation Department and the Commission on Continuing Professional Development and is acceptable for up to 8.5 prescribed credit hours. AAFP prescribed credit is accepted by the American Medical Association (AMA) as equivalent to AMA Physician’s Recognition Award (PRA) Category 1. When applying for the AMA PRA, prescribed hours earned must be reported as prescribed hours, not as Category 1.
